Son of the late Charles and Theresa Lefler Carey.
Before retiring in 1972, he worked at the PP&L Stanton Plant, Harding

He was a member of St Johns Lutheran Church, Wood St, Pittston and had served as its President, Sunday School Superintendent, and teacher. He was also a member of the Loyal Order of Moose 1209, West Pittston.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Evangeline White Fine; brother David; step sisters Travella Dietrich; Bertha Dietrich; step brother Williard Dietrich.
Surviving are his wife, Thelma L. Tripp; daughters, Joyce Holland, Charlotte, NC; Romanye Conklin, Wapwallopen; Lynd Anne Long, Reliance, VA; step brother Ronald Dietrich, West Pittston; sister Evelyn Brown, Flemington, NJ; 9 grandchildren and 25 great great grandchildren .
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 Monday from the Howell Lussi Funeral Home, West Pittston, followed by services at 11 am in St Johns Lutheran Church with Rev Russell Kerns, officiating.
Internment in Memorial Shine Cemetery, Carverton.
