Hobbie woman was registered nurse
Romayne D. Conklin went home to be with her Lord on Saturday, Jan. 26, 2013, in the comfort of her home in Hobbie surrounded by her family after a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer.
She was born May 23, 1934, in Dallas to William (Slim) and Thelma Tripp Carey. She graduated from high school in 1951 and graduated as a registered nurse from Nesbitt Memorial Hospital in 1955 and was married to Brice C. Conklin the same year.
She had five children: Ken and his wife, Sherry; Tim and his wife, Marla; Brad and his wife, Denise; Mark (Murf); and Cindy and her husband, Dan Jensen. She has two sisters: Lynda Carey and Joyce Holland. She has 22 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a grandchild, Bobbie Joe Knapp.
A service to honor her life and faith will be held Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. from Mount Zion United Methodist Church, Exeter Township, Harding, with Pastor Dave Ludwig and Michael Maleski, pastor of Living Hope Community Church, Nescopeck, presiding. She will be laid to rest in the church cemetery. Calling hours are Monday from 6:30-8:30 p.m. in Heller Funeral Home, Nescopeck, or in the church from 1:30-2:30 p.m. Tuesday. Expressions of sympathy can be made to Berwick Home Health and Hospice, 6850 Lows Road, Berwick, Pa. 18603.
