On 85th Birthday
Mrs. Lucy Adams Rogers died early today on her eighty-fifth birthday at Shanklin Rest Home, where she had been ill for the past 16 months. Death came shortly after midnight.
Born on Feb. 23, 1865, she was the daughter of the late Jackson and Jane Cansler Adams. Mrs. Rogers spent her entire life In Christian County. Her late husband, Billie Rogers, was a farmer in the Consolation neighborhood, and since his death about 20 years ago she had made her home in Hopkinsville.
During her girlhood she joined the Universalist Church and was an active participant in the work of her faith.
The funeral to be held at 3:30 this afternoon at Wood-Fuqua & Davis Funeral Home, and there will also be a short service at the grave at Riverside Cemetery, with the Rev. J. H. Maddox, pastor of Second Baptist Church, in charge.
Mrs. Rogers is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Flora Martin, Whlttter, Calif.; brother, E. G. Adams, Madisonville Road; and several nieces and nephews of the city and county.
