Born July 8, 1906, in Lafayette, he was a lifelong resident of Tippecanoe County. He farmed in this area for many years and was a self-employed sanitation engineer, working at Purdue University for 40 years. He retired in 1980.
He was married in 1933 in Lafayette to Jessie M. Harrington, and she died May 17, 1968.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Robert (Bonnie) Mason of Romney and Connie Flanagan of Lafayette; and four sons, Bill F., G. Robert and Larry T. James, all of Lafayette, and Johnny L. James of Denver, Colo.
