Billy Joe Martin, age 80 of Baxter Springs, KS passed from this life Sunday, April 29, 2012 at Emerald Pointe Health and Rehabilitation Center in Galena, KS.
Billy was born June 27, 1931 in Galena, KS to the union of Gilbert and Lillie Wood Martin.
He served in the United States Army from 1952-1954.
He was united in marriage to Doris Colleen Dardenne Martin on December 26, 1957 in Miami, OK.
Billy was an auto mechanic and owned his own Shell Station in Torrance, CA, before moving to Baxter Springs where he has spent the last thirty years. Billy enjoyed fishing and spending time with family and friends.
Billy is preceded in death by his parents; one brother James Martin; one sister Dixie Johnson.
He is survived by his wife Doris Martin of the home; one son Bill Robinson and wife Cyndi of Nevada, MO; one daughter Kimberly Jo Lane and husband Derrick of Baxter Springs; one brother Jerry Wayne Martin of Galena, KS; one half-brother Earl Crum of Reno, NV, and one step-brother Sonny Martin of Oregon; one half-sister Earlene Absher of Sparks, NV, and two step-sisters, Donna Morgan of Lakeport, CA, and Ladene Hart of Tennessee; four grandchildren, four great grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held at 5:00 p.m., Thursday, May 3, 2012 at Derfelt's Baxter Chapel. Pastor Eddie McAfee will officiate. Dinner will be provided following the services at 7221 SE 63rd St., Riverton, KS.
