Dixie F. Johnston age 78 of Baxter Springs, KS passed from this life Monday, November 8, 2010 at St. John's Regional Medical Center.

Dixie was born August 17, 1932 in Galena, KS to the union of Gilbert and Lilly (Wood) Martin.

She was united in marriage to Lloyd R. Johnston Sr. He precedes her in death.

Dixie spent her life loving and caring for her family and friends.

Those who had the opportunity to know her and share in her life know she will greatly be missed by all.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband and two brothers.

Survivors include four daughters, Janet Ireland of Baxter Springs, Ks., Judy Carrier and husband Michael of Scammon, Ks, Dixie Busby and husband Terry of Treece, Ks., Alisa Monroe and husband Todd of Carl Junction, Mo.; five sons Lloyd Johnston, II of Scammon, Ks., Terry Johnston of Baxter Springs, Ks., Gilbert Johnston and Anthony of Joplin, Mo., Randy Johnston and Sandy of Joplin, Mo., and Lloyd Johnston, III and wife, Spring of Baxter Springs, Ks; two brothers; one sister; sixteen grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held 2:00 p.m., Wednesday November 10, 2010 at the Oak Hill Cemetery, Galena, Ks.

Pastor Jim Cooper will officiate.

Family will receive friends Tuesday evening at the funeral home from 7:00-8:00 pm.

Arrangements are under the direction of Derfelt's Baxter Chapel.

Note:

Dixie was preceded in death by one brother, James Vernon 'Jim' Martin.

She is survived by two brothers, Billy Joe 'Bill' Martin and Jerry Wayne Martin; one half sister Leora 'Earlene' Crum Absher and one half brother Earl Winston Crum, Jr.. [He changed it from Winston Earl Crum, Jr..]
