Funeral Services for James M. CROOKS, 73 years old, a resident of the May community since 1907, will be held in the May high school auditorium at two o'clock Friday, with H. M. Smith, Rev. M. E. Beene and Rev. Arthur Dockum officiating. Burial will be in the May Cemetery.
Mr. CROOKS died at his home in May, Wednesday, following several years of failing health. He has been confined to bed two weeks and suffered a stroke of paralysis Saturday.
He was born in Haskinsville, Ohio, December 17, 1865 and was married to Ida B. DAVIS, February 10, 1894. To this union were born ten children, three of whom preceded him in death.
He settled three and one-half miles south of May in August, 1907, coming here from Ohio. He has made his home in May for the past 12 years.
Survivors include his wife and seven children, Harry H. CROOKS, Spearman, Texas; Pearl CROOKS, Cecil C. CROOKS and David A. CROOKS, May; James M. CROOKS, Ottawa, Kansas; Mrs. Mary R. FORGEY, Booker, Texas, and Mrs. Ella E. DAVIS, Perryton, Texas. Oren G. CROOKS, Sarah A. CROOKS and Alice May CROOKS preceded him in death. Thirty-three grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Charles CAIN of Zanesville, Ohio, also survives.
The Temple Mortuary of Buffalo is in charge of funeral arrangements. His sons will serve as pallbearers.
