Funeral Services for Ralph A. Stout, retired farmer of Elkhorn Twp were held at Rounds Funeral Home in Mt. Sterling, Illinois with Rev. Kenneth Anderson officiating. Burial will be in the Ripley Cemetery.
Mr. Stout died Friday night at Blessing Hospital in Quincy at the age of 79. He entered the hospital Wednesday. Cause of death was congenital heart failure.

He was born in Cooperstown Twp in Brown County Aug. 10, 1979, a son of John Charles Fremont Stout and Sally Gilkey Stout. He was the grandson of Francis Marion Stout and Nancy Catherine Stout who were prominent pioneers of Brown County and well known as owners of the Stout Pottery and Stout Mercantile Store in the Ripley area and contributors of land to the Ripley Cemetery.

Ralph was first married to Artemeasia 'Arte' Moody Stout. Following her death in April 1935, he married Velma Jane Rigg who survives. He was preceeded in death by his parents, a brother Hazel and sister Opal, and his beloved daughter Juanita Stout Purpus Crawford in Apr 1945.

Surviving are his son Lyle H.(Florence) Stout of Quincy, Ill, two grand daughters, Jeaneen Purpus Hollingshead and Judith Ann Crawford and one great grandson, Michael Allen Hollingshead.

Ralph was known as a fine gentlemen who was always willing to help his family, friends and neighbors. He was a loving, kind husband, father and grandfather. He will be missed by his family and large group of friends.
