In the early morning hours of April 5, 1935, the spirit of Mrs. Arte Stout took its flight back to the Maker who gave it. For several years she had been confined to her home with illness (TB), but was always patient and cheery.

Her delight was to serve the Lord, and it can truly be said of her, "She hath done what she could." Many precious souls have been pointed to the Lamb of God that taketh away the sins of the world, by her godly life. To know her was to love her.
She was born March 24, 1881, in Brown County, the daughter of James W. and Rosetta Myers Moody. She was united in marriage to Ralph A. Stout in 1899. She is survived by her husband; one son & daughter-in-law, Lyle H. (Florence) Stout of Quincy; and one daughter and son-in law, Mrs. Juanita (Delbert) Purpus of Hersman; three brothers, James H. Moody of Hersman, Allen (G.A.) Moody of Mt. Sterling, and Charles W. Moody of Mt. Sterling; and many other relatives and friends, who feel their loss deeply. She was predeceased by her parents; four sisters, Anna Fegley, Mamie Dean, Nettie Scherer, Alta McLain and two brothers, Pearl Moody and Loren Moody.

The funeral occurred from the Christian church in Ripley at two o'clock Sunday, conducted by Rev. VanHorn. Burial is Ripley Cemetery. (from the Democrat-Message of Brown County)
