William A. Dycus
Asheville – William A. Dycus, 90, of Asheville, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2007, at Laurels of Greentree Ridge. Born in Hopewell, Va., and raised in Shelby, he was the son of the late James and Jonie Allen Dycus.
Mr. Dycus served his coun try in the Marine Corps from March 18, 1944, to August 14, 1946, and served in Japan after the bombing of Nagasaki. For 24 years he worked for the Department of Agriculture in Washington, D.C. His love of HAM Radio led him to open his own TV store in Asheville in 1962. While in Asheville, he had been a member of Beverly Hills Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Wright Dycus; brothers, J.T. Dycus, Adam Dycus, Harry Dycus and Hoyt Dycus; and sister, Helen Crawford and Nancy Sorrells.

He is survived by his son, Bruce Bill Dycus, and his wife, Rebecca Alice Gill, of Fairview; sister, Arpie Littlejohn of, Newport News, Va.; grandson, Dr. William Allen Dycus, and his wife, Dr. Catherine Webster, of Oklahoma City, Okla.; and two great-grandchildren, Meredith Webster Dycus and Thayer Allen Dycus.

The funeral will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday in the chapel of Williams Funeral Service.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

Interment will follow at Cane Creek Cemetery, Fairview.
