The Franklin Press, 24 November 1971:

Claude Arnold, 71, of the Sugarfork Community, died Thursday, November 11, in a local hospital following an illness of one week.

A native of Macon County, he was a retired farmer and miner.

Funeral services were held Saturday, November 20, at Sugarfork Baptist Church with Rev. James Crayton, pastor, and Rev. Fred Sorrells officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were Joe McDowell, Larry Estes, Doyle Clark, Billy Stanfield, Clyde McCall and Earl Holland.

Surviving are the widow, Mrs. Fannie Early Arnold; the parents, Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Arnold, of Franklin, Route 5; two sons, Jack Arnold of Columbia, S.C. and Carroll Arnold of Naples, Fla.; one daughter, Mrs. Barbara Pendergrass of Clarksville, Ga.; five brothers, Roy, Fred, Alex, and Lex Arnold all of Franklin and Lester Arnold of Cherokee; three sisters, Mrs. Rose Clark, Mrs. Clara Holland and Mrs. Roxie Womack all of Franklin; and two grandchildren.

Bryant Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
