MOUNT VERNON, MO---Mrs. Julia Ann McConnell, 78, Mount Vernon, died about 2 a.m. Tuesday at Springfield Osteopathic Hospital following an illness of 10 days.
Mrs. McConnell was born Sept. 14, 1896, at Jasper. On July 7, 1916, at Carthage, she was married to Lester V. McConnell, who died in 1963. She was a member of the Villa Heights, Christian Church in Joplin and spent her entire life in the Jasper and Joplin area.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Betty I. Crockett, Lamar route 3, and Mrs. Eleanor Jones, Pocatello, Idaho; two sisters, Mrs. Lucy Campbell, Lamar route 4. And Mrs. Pearl Johns, Carthage; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at the Jasper Christian Church. Burial will be in the IOOF Cemetery at Golden City under direction of the Selvey Funeral Home of Jasper.
