John Garland Jones was the son of John Wilson Jones and Eliza Oakley. He was married to (1st) Ann Nuckolls from 1858-1875, daughter of John and Martha Nucholls and (2nd) Lucy Wood 1875-1893.
John Garland served in the 51st Inf. Company B. CSA. He fought in the Battle of New Market and was with Gen Early during his invasion of Penn and was within site of Washington DC. John was capture by Union Forces in Aug. 1864 and spent the rest of the war at Camp Chase, OH.
My Grandfather, his grandson, remembered John Garland Jones talking about eating rats while in Camp Chase and being glad to have fresh meat. My grandfather described JG as always wearing a brimmed hat with the front turned up.

John fathered 7 children by Ann Nucholls and 7 children by Lucy Wood. At least those are all I have found. I have heard all my life that he fathered 21 children in all.
