He was born in Eau Claire and married Lydia Porter Nov. 18, 1917, in Eau Claire. He farmed in the town of Union until his retirement.
Besides his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Clyde Heffernan, Cottage Grove, Minn., Mrs. Deane Duerkop, Altoona, Kathleen Fisher, Eau Claire; three sons, Joseph, Rhinelander, Robert, Eau Claire, Charles, Baraboo; four sisters, Ann Smith, Hastings, Neb., Mrs. Thomas McInnis, Veronica Bauch, both of Eau Claire, Leone Nunke, San Diego, Calif., a brother, William, Eau Claire; 22 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at St. Patrick's Church, with burial in the church cemetery.
