Cora Ward, 99, of Amarillo died Sunday, April 15, 2012.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Brooks Chapel with Allen Burkhalter officiating. Burial will be in Dreamland Cemetery. Arrangements are by Brooks Funeral Directors of Canyon.

Cora Ward was born July 1, 1912, in Santa Paula, Calif., to Jack and Ida Johnson. She married Jack Ward on Sept. 26, 1927. He preceded her in death on Aug. 15, 1988. She lived in McAlester, Okla.,
Hereford and Amarillo. In
Hereford, they farmed for the Reiners for 40 years, and she worked for Piggly Wiggly for 27 years as a meat wrapper and started the deli. She was Employee of the Year in 1967. They retired and moved to Amarillo in 1981.

Cora was a member of Chaparral Hills Baptist Church. She enjoyed canning, quilting, knitting and
crocheting. She was a very loving mother and devoted Grandma. She has six living generations. She was lovingly cared for by her great-granddaughter, Tracie Downing, for the last two years.

She was preceded in death by three sons, Buck, J.N. and Lawrence Ward; and two daughters, Joyce Green and Doris Ward.

Survivors include a daughter, Louise Williams of
Amarillo; 24 grandchildren; 66 great-grandchildren; 30 great-great-grandchildren; and two great-great-great-grandchildren. She also is survived by numerous other nieces and nephews.
