E. A. Hawkins Dies Today

Edward A. Hawkins, 39, of Route 6, who was seriously burned in an accident July 1, died at Mercy hospital today.
He was burned when gasoline he was using to destroy poison ivy flashed when he threw the fuel on flames.
His injuries were reported then as burns about the face, hands and upper part of the body. He was employed at the River Priducts Co. uarry near Coralville, where he was working when burned.
Cause of death has not been determined.
Mr Hawkins was born in Marengo November 1, 1915, the son of Mr. Edward A. and Anna Marie Hawkins.
In 1933 he was married to Marie Viola Kelly and the couple lived in Ottumwa until coming to the Iowa City area five years ago.
Survivors include his widow; one daughter, Mrs. Burt Cronk, of Iowa City; two sons, Roy Edward and Clarence F. Hawkins, of Iowa City; a sister, Mrs. Edna Lynn, of Marengo, and several half brothers.
Funeral services are pending at the Oathout funeral home.
