Hannah was the daughter of Andrew Sr. and his second wife Esther McCrellis (Pennell) Lucas. She was born April 6, 1764 at Colrain, Franklin County, Massachusetts. Her father had been previous married and he and his first wife Agnes had four chidlren: James (who drowned with John McCrellis Jr at Turner Falls on May 27, 1765), Mary, Agnes and Andrew Jr. Her mother Esther had also been married previously and she and her first husband Archibald Pennel had four children: Sarah, Isaac, Esther and Archibald Jr. These eight children were Hannah's step-brothers and sisters. She had one brother Daniel (my 3rd great grandfather) who was born February 7, 1762 also at Colrian. Hannah spent her youth and attended school at Colrain on a farm. Sometime prior to 1789 she married William Brown III. Her brother Daniel married Martha Brown, sister of William. Hannah and William had nine children: Lovina, Andrew, Nancy, Eleanor, Sarah, Hannah, Jane, Elmina and Philena. They spent most of their years around Colrain where they raised their children. She passed away on December 18, 1829 and William died March 30, 1831 at the age of seventy one. Their interment has not been verified but one source mentions burial was at a Colrain, Massachusetts cemetery. The gravestones have not been located.
