The May Pole in grade school was a big event in my life. We children would be dressed in white from head to toe and what fun we would have braiding the May Pole...
I worked at the Anglus Theatre all during my senior high school years.
One of the sad events in my life was our class party held at the Arrow Head Resort the day before commencement. Emil Anderson a classmate and a good friend was drowned...
When I was in the sixth grade and the last day before school ended, I, my brother Alden and cousin came home after school and opened a can of salmon to eat. I immediately became very ill and went to the bathroom because I was so sick. When my mother found me and called the doctor all three of us were very ill. The doctor said we had been poison. I had to swallow fet of tube and we washed out on the inside. I went blind from this and for a week I was in total darkness. I cried because I wouldn't see my report card and all the other kids had seen it. When I was first able to see I saw a big calender hanging in my room that had huge numbers on it...
(By her son, Sherald): My mother is a beauty operator [hair stylist] and has been ever since I can remember. She has had this job in the home, so she has always played a very definite role as mother and wife, also. There were many times when I would get up to go to school and find that she had already done somebody's hair. She would fix the meals in between her work in the parlor. I never remember the family looking upon this situation as a hardship. There were times when we found it hard to find some privacy, but it was all worth it...she was a beautician for 50 years.
They had the following children:

F Lu Ann JAMES was born 25 Aug 1935 and died 10 Jul 1991.
