September 2021 - Passage. Eleanor Janice James Fillmore passed away on September 22, 2021, in her home, surrounded by her loved ones. Janice was born January 25, 1940, in Spanish Fork, Utah. She was the daughter of David Wendell James and Ruby Eleanor Dedrickson James.

Mom graduated from Spanish Fork High School and was married on August 1, 1958. They had eight children together and later divorced. While raising her children, she found time to help with the voting process and also served in the PTA for many years.

Mom served as a teacher in the Relief Society and taught crocheting and painting ceramics for Relief Society activities. She also served as a compassionate service leader and a visiting teaching coordinator. The most important service she gave was, within the walls of her own home, teaching her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and their friends how to love freely and live honorably. Anyone was welcome in her home and became an instant friend. Mom shared hugs freely and often said her favorite place to be was inside of a hug. Her love was endless.

In her later years, Mom went to school to become a medical secretary, then worked at Mountainlands Community Health in that capacity. She worked at Christensen's in Spanish Fork as a salesperson and Telephone Directories as a collector. Mom was most proud of the work she did at Signetics, where she worked for many years making integrated circuits. She was frequently recognized for her consistent, hard work ethic.

Mom loved to read, cross-stitch, paint ceramics, play the piano, and sew. She made clothes for most of her children and even made beautiful Barbie Doll clothes to the delight of her children. She also loved to crochet and knit. She brought joy to many new moms with her beautiful baby blankets and adorable baby booties that she shared freely. These blankets are now a treasure to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Mom loved everything about nature, flowers and fall leaves were some of her favorite things. She pointed out the beauty in nature, daily, to those who were lucky enough to be in her company. Nothing made her more happy than growing beautiful flowers. This love and gift for nuturing has been passed on to many children and grandchildren.

Mom loved her children and grandchildren very much and delighted in their successes. Her many sacrifices were proof of this. Mom adored her 28 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren. She even helped raise a few of them, which has aided in their successes. Her grandchildren also adored her, each felt like they were the favorite. They would often go to Grandma's to talk things out. She was a safe place for them. Mom's great-grandchildren were the icing on the cake for her!

Mom always tried to lighten the mood, and bring a smile, with her delightful sense of humor that she kept until her last days. She was the strongest woman we know. Her faith and resilience will be carried on through her posterity. Mom was surrounded by family that loved and adored her to help her through her final years.

She is survived by her brother, Sherald (Janice) James, of Spanish Fork, Utah; and eight children: Debbie (Steve) Wyler of Spanish Fork, Utah; Melanie (Steve) Newell of Mapleton, Utah; Jerilyn Kaid of Spanish Fork, Utah; James (Angie) Fillmore of West Mountain, Utah; Todd Fillmore of Payson, Utah; Angie (Kurt) Kelson of Logandale, Nevada; Jennifer (Richard) Hatfield of Spring Lake, Utah; and Natalie (Artur) Terabelian of Las Vegas, Nevada.

We are sure mom was welcomed with open arms by her parents, sister, grandparents, and close friends who have passed on. This must have been a glorious reuniting! We love you Mom, and will miss you so much! But, we are so happy you finally have your wings!
