BIG POINT --- Ruby Lucille Cooper Israel, 79, died Monday, April 1, 2002, in Big Point.

Mrs. Israel was born in Tylertown on June 1, 1923. She was a homemaker and a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ethod Ocie and Pearlie Rushing Cooper; four brothers, Luther Cooper, Roland Cooper, Seth Cooper and Jasper Cooper; a son, John Perry Israel; a daughter, Betty Joe Israel Fountain; and three grandchildren, Tammy Lynn Israel, Barton "Bubba" Fountain and Jared Varnell Israel.

Survivors include her husband, Carlie Barton Israel Sr. of Big Point; five daughters, Earline Parker of Brandon, Fla., Valentine Moss of Dumas, Ark., Edna Mae Sommerholder of Dennard, Ark., Harriet Lee of Atlanta and Margaret Fitzgerald of Pascagoula; four sons, C.B. Israel Jr. of Walker, La., James Larry Israel of Helena, Varnell Israel of Big Point and Bobby Joe Israel of Escatawpa; two brothers, Jimmy Cooper of McComb and Howard Cooper of Magnolia; a sister, Emma Jean Cooper Israel of Walker, La.; 39 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 tonight at O'Bryant-O'Keefe Funeral Home in Pascagoula. Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, where friends may call one hour before service time. Burial will be in Serene Memorial Gardens in Escatawpa.
