Duke L. Banton Sr., 81, of Sanderson Drive, died at 6:20 a.m. today at Jennie Stuart Medical Center.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Hughart Funeral Home with tile Rev. Steve Broadbent officiating and burial In Riverside Cemetery.

A native of Allensville, he was born Jan. 30, 1903, the son of the late D B. and Mary Laughin Banton. He was a member of the Church of the Nazarene. He managed his own farm after retiring after 20 years of service as a timber buyer with R.C.Owen Co. A son, Paul N. Banton, died in 1980.

Survivors Include his wife, Mary Norris Banton; two sons, David S. of Lafayette, Ind., and Duke L. Banton, Jr., HopkInsvIlle; two daughters, Peggy Jones, Hopkinsville, and June Cash, Statesville, N.C., a brother, Mervin Banton, Allensville; three sisters, Retha Deason, Lansing, Mich., Mary Miller, Calif., and Peggy Banton, Cleveland, Ohio; and nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
