William Dearwood Banton was the son of James K. Polk Banton and Maranda Martha (Dorris) Banton.
He married Mary Maude Lofland on 13 Dec 1894 at Robertson Co., TN.
He openly acknowledged that he was a member of the 'Night Riders.'
His tombstone indicates that he was born in 1871; primary sources confirm that he was born in 1872.
