E. E. Frazier Dies Suddenly

Prominent Christian County Man Passes Away While Visiting in Aurora

Elisha E. Frazier was born in McMinn County, Tennessee, June 29, 1848. He came to what is now Christian county, Missouri, with his parents when a child and has lived in this immediate neighborhood almost all of his life. He was married to Margaret Jane Sharp on July 20, 1865. They lived together as husband and wife, 58 ½ years until the wife's death, January 29, 1924. To this union twelve children were born - six girls and six boys - three of whom died in childhood, and two sons died after reaching manhood, Joseph L. in 1900 and Chas. E. in 1922. Two sons and five daughters survive. They are J. S. Frazier of Springfield, Mo.; D. S. Frazier of Aurora; Mrs. V. L. Dunham of Nixa, Mo., Mrs. A. J. Holder, Mrs. J. F. Faris and Mrs. S. C. Cobb of Clever, Mo., and Mrs. H. B. Peebles of Republic, Mo. There are also 42 surviving grandchildren and 36 surviving great grandchildren. Mr. Frazier was always a leading spirit in community enterprises - have the confidence and respect of his neighbors, holding many places of responsibility and trust. He was for four years presiding judge of the county court in this county. He has been a member of the A. F. & A. M. for about forty-seven years - first of Finley Lodge at Ozark, then of Clever Lodge of which he was a charter member. He was converted and joined the M. E. church at Lorenza Chapel in 1866 and remained a faithful member of this church until his death, which came at 9:00 p.m., June 5, 1928, at the home of his son at Aurora, Missouri. His mind remained clear and his faith in Christ as a Savior strong until the end. Of him, it can truthfully be said, the children have lost a kind, faithful and loving father, and the community has lost a kind neighbor and a useful citizen. Funeral services were held at Lorenza Chapel, Rev, Hopkins pastor of the M. E. church, preached the sermon. The burial service was conducted by the A. F. & A. M. members of Clever lodge, Finley Lodge and the Lodge at Aurora, participating in the service. The interment was in charge of Wilbur Maples burial director.
