Ruela Alexander of Grove died Friday, June 27, 2008, after an illness. She was 85.

Mrs. Alexander was born May 7, 1923, in Alba, Mich., to Roy and Blanche (Holden) Wilson.

She married Eddie Alexander Jr. on Aug. 10, 1950, in Bellaire, Mich. He survives, of the home.

She received a master's degree from the University of Central Oklahoma in Edmond and was a teacher for 29 years.

Mrs. Alexander taught at State Center in Jones, Millwood in Oklahoma City and in Fox before moving to Mississippi to teach in the Pines County Public School System.

She moved to Port Duncan in 1996 before moving to Fairland in 2001 and then to Grove in 2008.

Mrs. Alexander was a member of the AARP, the National Education Association and the First Baptist Church of Fairland.

She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, Archie Wilson, Clayton Wilson and George Wilson.

Additional survivors include a son and his wife, Mark and Karen Alexander of Fairland; a daughter and her husband, Nancylee and A.B. Campbell of Charleston, S.C.; two brothers, James Wilson of Bellaire and Walter Wilson of Mancelona, Mich.; a sister, Lena Snodgrass of Bellaire and six grandchildren.

A funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church in Fairland with the Rev. Andy Krebs officiating. Serving as pallbearers will be Jay Alexander, Jordan Alexander, Jill Alexander, James Campbell, Jonathan Campbell and Michael Mank.

Burial will follow in Fairland Cemetery.

The family will receive visitors from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Adcock Funeral Home in Fairland.

In Lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to either the First Baptist Church or the Fairland Fire Department in care of the funeral home.
