A retired iron worker and welder and a member of Iron Workers Union Local 623, he died at 1:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 8, 2004, at his home. He was 80 and a resident and native of Colyell. Visitation at Colyell Baptist Church, Colyell, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Wednesday. Visitation at the church from 8 a.m. until service at 10 a.m. Thursday, conducted by the Rev. Sandy Sherman. Burial in church cemetery. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Tennie Elizabeth Palmer Goings of Colyell; two daughters and sons-in-law, Peggy and Tim Wheat and Mary and Roland McMorris, all of Colyell; a son, Wayne Thomas Goings of Gonzales; two sisters, Betty Jean Magee and Jesse Pepper; three brothers, David, Elton and Adrian Goings; nine grandchildren, Jamie, Cody and Mason Wheat, Angie McMorris Cornett, Ron and Brad McMorris and Troy, Greg and Kristy Goings; five great-grandchildren, Blake and Austin Cornett, Dylan and Justin Goings and Dawson Goings; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Arley and Alma Riley Goings; a son, Thomas Goings; two sisters, Ethalee Goings and Bessie Barber; and two brothers, A.T. and Milton Goings. Pallbearers will be Troy and Greg Goings, Jamie and Cody Wheat, Brad McMorris and Shane Cornett. Honorary pallbearer is Ron McMorris. Seale Funeral Service Inc., Denham Springs, in charge of arrangements.
