Jessie L. "Jerri" Pepper, 89, of McComb, died Aug. 11, 2011, at her residence.
Visitation was Saturday at Hartman-Sharkey Funeral Home in McComb and continues at 1 p.m. today until services at 3 with the Rev. Dan Wynn officiating. Burial will be in Hollywood Cemetery.
Mrs. Pepper was born Jan. 11, 1921, in Mount Hermon, La. She was the daughter of Arlie T. and Alma Riley Goings.
She was a member of East McComb Baptist Church, now New Heights Baptist Church.
Mrs. Pepper was an active homemaker and a great cook. Her family called her a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. She loved to work in her flower beds and loved her family and friends and will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant son, Terri; two sisters, Ethelee G. Morris and Bessie G. Barber; and three brothers, Henry, A.T. and Milton Goings.
She is survived by her husband, Cecil A. Pepper of McComb; four children and their spouses, Harold R. and Judy Melton of West Jordon, Utah, Ann and Kenneth Van Norman of Summit, Allen and Verla Pepper of Starkville and Libby and Danny P. McMullen of Maben; three brothers, Adrean Goings of Gonzales, La., Elton Goings of Livingston, La., and David Goings of Denham Springs, La.; one sister, Betty Jean Goings Givens of Kentwood, La.; nine grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
Pallbearers will be Randy Dale, James Dale, Matthew Melton, Mitch Godwin, Doug Goings and Lance Dale.
