His paternal grandparents were Hardy Box and Hester Ann King Box. His maternal grandparents were Benjamin Seats and Sarah Elizabeth Dobson Seats.
William had four siblings:
Delia Ann (Box) Alcorn (1892-1980)
Maude Odessa (Box) Partney (1894-1981)
Bertha (Box) Partney (1897-1984)
Thomas Glenster Boxx (1899-1989) (unsure why he added an extra "x" to the end of Box, but numerous relatives did the same thing during the early 1900s in southern Missouri).
An article about his marriage to Esther Ellen Cottrell appeared in the 2-5-1914 edition of The Current Local, Van Buren, Carter Co., MO on the front page (used with permission).
"Will Boxx, who has been railroading in Iowa, returned home Friday for a visit with homefolks. And, by the way, while on his way home, he came via Cuba, Mo. and took unto himself a bride, viz: Miss Esther Cotterl, and bro't her "right along home with him." Both parties are well known here and they have many friends who extend to them congratulations. Will and his wife spent Sunday visiting Will's mother on Ten Mile."
He and Esther Ellen had 3 known children all born in MO: Thela C. Box Mills (b. circa 1915), William A. (b. circa 1918), and Robert R (b. 1921).
In 1917, the family was living in Springfield, MO where William was a Machinist Helper at the Frisco Railway Co.
By 1940 the family had moved to Los Angeles, CA where William became a Millwright at a Meat Packing Plant.
William and his 4 siblings all lived into their late 80s.
A HUGE "Thank-You" to Jack and Ruth Gravance for creating William's memorial originally and graciously adding his tombstone photos also!
