REUBEN CLEMENTS DEAD
Reuben Clements died yesterday afternoon at 12:50 o'clock at his home, 1019 Sylvan street, following a stroke of paralysis on June 18. He was born in Boone County, Indiana, April 21, 1847. He was married to Mary E. Jones in Henry County, Missouri, October 31, 1869, and Mr. and Mrs. Clements came to Kansas, settling in Emporia in 1878. Mr. Clements was a member of Company I, 9th Regiment, Indiana Cavalry, and belonged to the Hancock Post. He was a member of the Methodist Church, and belonged to the A.O.U.W. Lodge. Mr. Clements is survived by Mrs. Clements; a daughter, Mrs. Polly C. Jay; three sons, Reuben T. Clements, and Earl P. Clements, of Emporia, and L. T. Clements, of DeQueen, Ark.; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Spry, of Blue Mound, Ill.; Mrs. Dan Herdlebaugh, Decatur, Ill.; a brother, Phillip Clements, of Stonington, Ill., and a nephew, L. M. White, of Emporia.
Funeral services will be held tomorrow at 9 o'clock at the Clements home, 1019 Sylvan Street. The Rev. George C. Wise will be in charge of the services and interment will be made in Maplewood Cemetery. Members of the A.O.U.W. will be pall=bearers.
