The Clements Funeral.
The funeral service of Ira Clements was held Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock in the Grace Methodist Church, and was large attended. Rev. E. J. Gardner preached the sermon, and Captain C. R. Stone spoke briefly. Music was furnished by Mrs. H. E. Smith, Miss Myrtle Morrison, H. A. Wayman, and Mrs. C. L. Short, with Mrs. J. M. Parrington, organist. The gifts of flowers were profuse, and made a beautiful array. The pall-bearers were veterans of the Spanish-American war, and were H. H. Ferrin, Norman McElfresh, Lew Allen, Silas H. Fish, George Weesner and Claude Childers. Of these, Lew Allen was a regular army veteran, and the last named twice enlisted with Clements. Of twenty-one men who enlisted together, only five are living. A short military ceremony, conducted by Captain Stone was held at the grave in Maplewood cemetery.
