PHILIP CLEMENTS ; born in Boone County, Ind., September 9, 1844, and moved with his parents to Illinois in 1849, settling near Mt. Auburn, Ill. He removed to Macon County in 1857, ancl enlisted in Company E at its organization. He was an efficient soldier and shared in all the honors of his company from the beginning to the end, being mustered out in June, 1865. He was one of the 13 survivors of Company E who stacked arms at the close of the battle of Chickamauga, after the deadly work on Snodgrass Hill. Since the war he has devoted his time to farming and stock raising, his post office address being Stonington, Ill.
