Bertha "Bertie" Peeples Brown Elrod, 68, of Loganville, Georgia, died Monday September 18, 1972, in Loganville, Georgia. She was known as "Big Ma Ma" by her grandchildren. Born in Franklin County, Georgia, September 8, 1904 to the late Ike Isom Peeples and Elizabeth Fowler Peeples. Survivors are her husband Robert Floyd Elrod; of Loganville, Georgia; four daughters; Polly Ruth Shepherd, of Fruitland Park, Florida; Louise Higley, of Syrcuse, New York; Rachel Fowler, of Decatur, Georgia; Shirley Harbin, of Loganville, Georgia; two sons Ben Brown of Marietta, Georgia; Clyde Brown, of Stanford, Virginia; two sisters; Mrs. Jessie O'Neal, and Mrs. Ethel Gray, both of Loganville, Georgia; one brother Mr. Raymond Peeples, Royston, Georgia; 22 grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren. Pallbears will be Charles and Jasper Davis, Frank George, Paul Fowler, and Rod Desinuke. Funeral services will be held Wednesday September 20, 1972, at 11:00 a.m. at the Rice Creek Baptist Church Canon, Georgia with the Rev. Dr. Gerald E. Bagwell and the Rev Harold Jones officiating. Burial will follow at the Fowler Family Cemetery Canon, Georgia. Pruitt Funeral Home in Royston, Georgia is in charge of arrangements.
