Mrs. Samford was born December 21, 1908 in Jasper County, Texas. Her parents were Arthur Adams and Miriam Sheffield Adams.
She was a member of the Short Methodist Church. Her husband, the late Claude Samford, was the County Deputy sheriff under three sheriffs.
Survivors are a son Captain Jack Samford, of Bremerton Washington; two granddaughters, Kelly Samford, Gallup, New Mexico and Mrs. Tracy O'Rourke of San Diego, California; four sisters, Mrs. Christine Yawn of Jacksonville, Texas, Mrs. Audie Green, Center, Mrs. Geraldine Wood, Jasper and Mrs. Margaret Andrews, Center; two brothers, J. W. Adams, Vidor, and Alton Adams, of Kirbyville; also a number of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were George Andrews, Matt Andrews, Floyd Ellis, Shannon Adams, Hugh Adams, Gary Adams, Bobby Wood and Lee Wood.
