WILLIAM HEER DIES
William Heer, a resident of Villisca for the last 25 years, died Monday evening at 10:30 o’clock at the home of Mrs. Andrew Posten where he made his home for the past five years. He had been in failing health for several months and his death resulted from old age complications.
Mr. Heer was born February 12, 1837 in Schleswig, Holstein, Germany and was 91 years old at his death. He was married in 1869 to Miss Wihelmia Eberling of Germany and to this union four children were born, of whom a daughter, Mrs. Kay Wills, and son Herman are deceased. Adolph of Chicago and William of Birmingham, Alabama survive and were present at the funeral.
Mr. Heer and his wife came to Iowa in 1884, and settled on a farm two miles west of Guss. They lived there until 1903 when they moved to Villisca to make their home. Mrs. Heer died in 1913.
Mr. Heer’s body was taken to the Wolfe Funeral Home to await the funeral service which was held Thursday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock in the Methodist Church, with Rev. Geo. A. Lawton in charge. The pall bearers were members of the I.O.O.F. lodge of which Mr. Heer was a member. He was a charter member of the Maple Grove Lodge of Guss. Interment was made in the Villisca Cemetery.
