Robert Clarence Eiker of Emmitsburg departed this life May 10.

He was the son of the late Francis & Laura Vansickle Eiker.

Mr. Eiker was one of the founding members of the Indian Lookout Bowmen Archery Club. He also helped to organize the Gettysburg Archery Club & participated in the relocation of the Gettysburg club to its present site. He was a member of the NFAA (National Field Archery Association), the Woodsboro Bowmen, the Mayberry Archery Club, the Indian Lookout Conservation Club, the Blue Ridge Sportsmen Association, the Sons of the American Legion Cascade Post 239, & the Elias Evangelical Lutheran Church, Emmitsburg. Mr. Eiker was a member of the Carpenters Local 132, retiring from the Thurmont Construction Company. He was a master craftsman and also an accomplished, instinctive shooter a top competitor for many years.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Bernardine Ott Eiker, who entered into Heavenly rest February 9, 1995, and is survived by six children, Dorothy Fox of Dickerson, MD, Anna Ray of Waynesboro, William Eiker of Emmitsburg, Joan Carney of Colorado Springs, CO, & Robert B. Eiker & Peggy Eiker Fleagle, both of Fairfield; 18 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Helen Irene Weinarsky of Sea Isle, NJ; two brothers, Gilbert Eiker & Elwood Eiker, both of Emmitsburg; a number of nieces & nephews; & friend, Elva O'Brien of Fairfield.

He was also preceded in death by one son, Robert Eiker; one granddaughter, Kathy Thomas; one brother, Francis Eiker; & two sisters, Ruth Kemp & Betty Weirman.
