BIOGRAPHY:
Ethel Taylor, twin to Esther Taylor, was born July 16, 1913, to Arthur Burt and Edith (Newcomb) Taylor. Ethel was the oldest of four children: siblings were Ralph, Walter and Alice. Twin Esther died 2 1/2 months after birth.

Due to the Depression Years and after her mother Edith passed away, at age 16, Ethel quit high school to take care of her younger siblings, finding work while they were in school to supply food and clothing for them.

In 1934, when Ethel was 20 years old, she met Wallace Marcus Roberts at a church social dance in Tacoma, Washington. They were married on March 18, 1934 in Tacoma. From this marriage union one child was born, Lois Marie Roberts. Wallace suffered with ill health and was bedridden at times. Ethel found whatever work she could find to support the family. Ethel found herself widowed at the young age of 34. After Ethel’s husband, Wallace, passed away, she had to find more work in which to support herself and daughter. Wallace’s mother, Beulah, helped to raise Ethel’s only child and daughter Lois while she worked.

When Ethel was 39 years old, 1952, Ethel met Mahlon 'Shortie' Beeghly. He was a bookeeper for a church in Yakima where he resided, and would travel to Tacoma to do the books at her church also. They would have coffee afterwards, and eventually she married Mahlon in Yakima, Washington that same year. Before his death, they moved to Phoenix, Arizona 1980-81. Ethel moved back to Tacoma, Washington after Mahlon's death to take care of her only daughter Lois who had cancer. Ethel, 88, passed away November 24, 2001.

Ethel was active in her faith and church.

Survivors at the time of her death is her sister Mrs. Alice Stubblefield, Tacoma, Washington; daughter Mrs. Lois M. Orendoff Manera, also of Tacoma, Washington; two granddaughters, Laureen and Linda (Jerry) Voss, and three great-grandchildren, Penny, Gary and Cecilia.

Ethel was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, Wallace Roberts and Mahlon Beeghly; and her two younger brothers, Walter and Ralph.

Cremation services provided by Oak Hill Funeral home, Tacoma, Washington.
