BIOGRAPHY:
Wallace Marcus Roberts was born on September 25, 1910 to John Marcus and Beulah (Alexander) Roberts in Tacoma, Washington. Wallace was an only child to this marriage union, and was always a sickly child, never gaining any weight.

Wallace married Ethel Taylor March, 1934 in Tacoma. Wallace and Ethel had one child born to this union, Lois Marie Roberts. Due to his weakness, Wally’s mother, Beulah, either lived with them or next to them in close proximity to help.

At the time of Wally's first heart attack, Wally was working for the Tacoma Train Depot as a laborer. Wallace was bedridden many times with Congestive Heart Failure and Thrombophlebitis in his legs. His second massive heart attack put him in the hospital, where he passed away 19 days later at age 37.

The custom of the time, a small shrub was planted over the area of where his chest would be, and over the coffin. The cemetery did not realize this was a grave site, as the small shrub grew quite large, and for many years the cemetery believed this was their boundary line. When we tracked down the number of the grave site with the caretaker, under the shrub a common 'log roll' headstone was discovered with faint engraving visible. (Found by granddaughter Linda Orendoff Voss May 2008).

NOTE: FAG Contributor Chad Schneider noticed a discrepancy in cemetery records (office records were not kept well at that time). He found both gravesites listed. Unable to determine which is the actual burial site; the other burial site being within the row (see attached photo)
