Herman Klahn was born 8 Feb 1883 in Wheatland, Clinton County, IA son of
Andrew and Emma Bentrott Klahn. He attended public schools in Wheatland.
Herman was employed with the Chicago & North Western Railroad. He married Ruby
Fifield 27 Nov 1907. She was born 19 Sep 1885 in Wheatland. Ruby graduated
from Wheatland High School and was a member of the Presbyterian Church. They
moved to Montana in 1921 and then to various places in North Dakota
[Cleveland] and Minnesota [Perham] where he was employed as signal maintainer
for the Northern Pacific Railway Co. He was a member of the Masonic lodge of
Perham, Minnesota, and also of the Brotherhood of Railway Signalmen of
America. Herman died 19 Jan 1934 in St. Paul, Ramsey County, MN from
complications following hernia surgery. He was buried in Pine Hill Cemetery,
