Please note: There is a discrepancy with William Pohl's birth year. The preponderance of the evidence suggests 1891 is the correct year of birth. This includes the 1900 census, World War I Draft Registration, Death Certificate, Social Security Death Index and family trees listed on Ancestry. The only other source besides his headstone photo indicating 1892 as his birth year is his World War II Draft Registration. In addition his obituary states he is fifty years old at the time of his death in 1942, he would not have been 50 until 11 November of 1942 if he was born in 1892 rather than 1891.
Mr. Pohl attended school in Austin; served in the Army during WWI. After serving he came to Reno where he had remained until his death with the exception of a stay at the VA hospital in CA.
He worked at the University of Nevada, Reno where he kept the grounds and buildings.
Died at his home in Reno after being ill for three years. In those three years he had been at the VA hospital in California until just before his death when he returned to his home.
Birth year is based on his age of fifty at the time of his death.
He was a member of Reno Lodge # 14 I.O.O.F., they assisted in the funeral.
Survived by his widow Laverta Pohl; daughters Shirley Ruth and Norma Jean Pohl and son Robert W. Pohl, all of Reno; sisters Mrs. Emma Hart of El Segunda, CA, Mrs. Louise Hays of Sacramento, Mrs. C. Preston of Sparks and Mrs. Anna Lansingf of Elsinore, CA; brothers Fred Pohl of Las Vegas (FG#86524551), Robert Pohl of Hawthorne (FG#84504652), and E.C. Pohl of Carson City (FG#35702526).
In addition to his membership in I.O.O.F he belonged to Reno Aerie of Eagles and Darrell Dunkle post of the American Legion.
