Mrs. Mary Hayes Fletcher, 74, of Popeye Lane, Lexington, N.C., died Saturday, April 25, at her home.
She was born March 29, 1935 in Watauga County, to James Alfonso and Anna Colvard Hayes.
Mrs. Fletcher was a homemaker and a member of Rich Fork Baptist Church.
She is survived by her daughter, Sandra Ward of Lexington; her step-sons, Steven Fletcher and wife, Lisa, and Scott Fletcher, and wife, Lynn, both of Lexington; her brothers, Bill Hayes, and wife, Carrie, of Monroe, James Hayes and wife, Beulah, of Boone, and Harold Hayes, and wife, Alta, of Florida; her sisters, Anna Summit of Lexington, and Elizabeth Kanupp and husband, David, of Claremont; and her grandchildren, Katherine Fletcher, and Dalton Fletcher, both of Lexington.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Leonard Fletcher; a son, Payne Ward; and a granddaughter, Michaela Lewis.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 29, 2009, at the Rich Fork Baptist Church, with the Rev. Michael Bowers officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Memorial Park.
The family received friends from 6-8 p.m., Tuesday, at Davidson Funeral Home.
