Estella Mae Olive Davis

Estella Mae Olive Davis, daughter if Israel and Ellen Bush Olive, was born February 13, 1878 northeast of Corning, Adams County, Iowa, and passed away at Rosary Hospital at Corning, Iowa, January 27, 1965 at the age of 86 years, 11months and 14 days.
She received education in the rural schools of Adams County. In 1902 the family moved to Corning, where she was a leading dress maker for several years.
On May 29, 1907 he was united in marriage to Joseph S. Davis at the home of her parents. They went to housekeeping on a farm 11/2 miles west of Corning where they spent their entire married life. To this union two children, Ruth and Frank, were born.
When a young girl, she united with the Mt. Pleasant Methodist Church, northeast of Corning, later transferred her membership to the Presbyterian Church in Corning.
She was a charter member of the L.P.L. Club, which celebrated its 50th anniversary in 1957. She was also a charter member of the Kill Kare Club.
She had many hobbies, which kept her busy. She enjoyed working with flowers and many different kinds of handicraft.
She took a great interest in her family and was very proud of her five grandsons.
She is survived by her husband, Joseph; her daughter, Ruth Core and her husband Irvin; her son, Frank and his wife Doris; five grandsons, Donald Victor and wife Jean of Westminster, Colorado; Wayne Victor and wife Wanda of Prescott, Ia; Michael Victor of Maryville, Missouri; Dean Davis of Corning, Ia; and Robert Davis of Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri; and nine great grandchildren; one sister, Margaret Olive of Corning, and a number of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Thomas and Charles Olive, and one sister, Cora Baker.
She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Services were Friday, January 29 at 1:30 p.m. from the Roland Funeral home in Corning, Iowa conducted by Rev. W. H. Sinning.
Music was by Mrs. Donna Peckham and Ruth Tranbarger with Mrs. Dorothy Cook pianist. Pall bearers were Claude Paul, Orlo Olive, Dick Miller, Donald Wilmarth, Otis Westphal, and Paul Richie. Burial was in Walnut Grove Cemetery.
