Margaret Bush Olive

Margaret Bush Olive, youngest daughter of Joseph and Margaret Bush, passed away Sunday morning at 1 o'clock, July 24, 1949, at the age of 96 years, 6 months and 22 days. She was born in Scotland January 2, 1853
The family came to America the summer of 1853. She was 6 months old at this time. They lived in Rockville Pa., until 1872, then moved to LaSalle, Illinois, January 20, 1873 she was married to Israel Olive in Ottawa, Ill. After their marriage they made their home in Pekin, Ill. Later moved to Adams County, Iowa and settled on a farm of raw prairie, four and one half miles northeast of Corning. They lived there until the spring of 1905 they moved to Corning. Her husband passed away January 20, 1921.
To this union five children were born; Thomas, of Long Beach, Calif., deceased; Charles Olive and Estella Davis near Corning; Cora Baker, Kirksville, Mo., and Margaret residing at home. There are twelve grandchildren, twenty one great grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren.
She united with the Baptist church when she was a girl. After moving to Iowa she attended the Methodist church as long as her health would permit.
She was always ready to help anyone that needed assistance and carried the pioneer spirit with her until the last.
Funeral services were held at the Roland Funeral Home, Tuesday afternoon, July 26 at 2:30, conducted by Rev. D. E. Steinfort of the Grace Baptist church.
Marietta Hill, organist and Mrs. Esther Roland sang two of her favorite hymns, "Nearer My God To Thee" and "Going Down the Valley."
The pall bearers were six of her grandchildren, Elmer, Melville and Orlo Olive, Lynn Boswell, Wilber Hess and Frank Davis. Burial was in the Walnut Grove Cemetery.
