Mavis Lorraine Brister Ackle, 83 passed away Tuesday March 12, 2012 at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland, MS. Funeral services will be held 2:00pm Thursday March 15, 2012 from the chapel of Wright & Ferguson Funeral Home, Jackson, MS. Visitation will be today from 5:00pm until 7:00pm and Thursday from 1:00pm until 2:00pm. Burial will be in Lakewood Memorial Park.

Mrs. Ackle was a native of Poplar Creek, MS. where she graduated from Kilmichael High shcool and had lived in the Jackson area for approximately 40 years. She was a member of All Saints Episcopal Church and retired from the Mississippi Department of Employment Commission. A member of American Legion Auxiliary Post 112, the V.F. W. Post 687 Auxiliary, The Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary, the Moose Lodge, The Retired Sergeants Association Auxiliary, and was a member of Beta Sigma Phi. She was part owner of the Fisherman's Wharf Restaurant. She was a member of the U.S Bowling League and loved her bowling very much.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Ruth Brister Palmertree and a brother, Wendell Brister. Mrs. Ackle is survived by her husband, Edward I. Ackle of Jackson; her nieces, Shirley Sanders of Monroe, LA and Belinda Williams of Clinton, MS; her nephews Doug Brister and Ronnie Brister of Brandon, MS, Mike Ray of Monroe, LA, Bill Ray of Eros, LA, and Phillip Palmertree of Kosciusko, MS and her sister, Wilma Kilpatrick of Monroe, LA.

In lieu of flowers the family request memorials to be made to French Camp Acadamy, French Camp, MS.
