Graveside services will be held Wednesday for John B Admire Sr., a Petaluma resident who served with the U.S. Merchant Marine in WWII, the Korean conflict,and in Vietnam. Admire died in a Petaluma convalescent hospital after a long illness. He was 74.
Mr. Admire, born in Hawley,Texas, served with the Merchant Marine for 36 years and retired as a captain in 1980. He moved to Sonoma County from San Rafael 20 years ago, settling in Petaluma.
He is survived by his wife, Elnora Admire of Petaluma; his son, John Admire Jr., of Windsor; his mother , Mary Admire of Texas; two grandchildren and three sisters.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Cypress Hill Memorial Park in Petaluma.
