Herbert F. Ulrich Dies at Age of 83

Herbert Floyd Ulrich, 83, was dead on arrival in a Topeka hospital Sunday after he became ill at his home, 1704 Lower Silver Lake Road.

He had been assistant superintendent for the Mid-America Fair in Topeka since 1928.

He was born July 9, 1882, at Peabody in Marion County. He lived in the Wells Creek and Belvue communities before he moved to Topeka in 1913. He was a letter carrier before he retired in January 1948 after 34 years service.
He attended Seaman Congregational Church and was a past director of the Moose Lodge. He was a member of the Letter carriers Assn. 52 years. He formerly was manager of the Marling Chesney girls' softball team in Topeka.

He was married to Bertha Ramsey at Belvue in Pottawatomie County Oct. 1, 1912.
A son, Floyd D. Ulrich, died in 1934.
Besides his wife, survivors include two sons, Lyle R. Ulrich, 309 Hillside Drive, and Dale A. Ulrich, Overland Park; a daughter, Mrs. Faye Skinner, 1626 Lower Silver Lake Road; a sister, Mrs. Bertha Chase, Colorado Springs, Colo.; and five grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Seaman Congregational Church.
