Irene (Herbel) Dick, 90, Russell, died Thursday, February 22, 2007, at Russell Regional Hospital. She was born July 15, 1916, in Kansas to Reinhardt and Molly (Neubert) Herbel. At a young age, she and her family moved to a farm north of Dorrance. She grew up in the Dorrance area. She married Benjamin Dick on Sept. 22, 1932, near Dorrance on the family farm north of Dorrance. He preceded her in death. She worked at Russell bakery for more than nine years. She was a care giver with the Senior Companions Program at Russell Regional Hospital, Russell. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Russell.
Survivors include three sisters, Elsie Root, Russell, Vera Pejsha, Wilson, and Molly Easter, Kansas City, Kan; six grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Denny Jerome Dick, and a daughter, Deloris Dick; 3 sisters abd 2 brothers.
Celebration of her life will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, (Feb. 27) at St. John Lutheran Church, Russell; burial in St. John Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be until 8 p.m. at Pohlman- Varner-Peeler Mortuary. Memorials are suggested to St. John Lutheran Church in care of the funeral home.
