Pejsha, 92, Wilson, passed away June 25, 2015, at the Ellsworth County Medical Center in Ellsworth, Kan.
She was born Oct. 25, 1922 on the family farm in Russell County, the daughter of Reinhardt and Mollie (Neuvert) Herbel. She grew up in the Russell/Lucas area and attended local schools.
On Oct. 25, 1941, she was united in marriage to Otis R. Pejsha in Alma, Kan. This union was blessed with four children: Gary, Stephen, Robbin, and Shelly.
Together they made their home on the family farm in Lincoln County until retirement in 1984 when they moved to Wilson, Kan. She worked as a cook for the Wilson Nursing Center in Wilson.
Vera was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church, a proud life member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary 6240 in Russell, Kan., and a member of the Wilson Legion Auxiliary. She volunteered many hours of her time and talent to the Wilson Senior Center, serving as a council member and substitute manager.
She was preceded in death by her husband; son Stephen; her parents; three brothers; and six sisters.
A celebration of Vera’s Life will be at 11 a.m. Monday, June 29, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church with Pastor Jim Strasen officiating. Interment will follow in the Wilson City Cemetery.
