Benjamin Dick, son of Henry and Anna (Heffel) Dick, was born Jan. 22, 1907, at Hooker, OK, and departed this life Dec. 27, 1988, at the Russell Regional Hospital, at the age of 81 years, 11 months, and 5 days.

He came to Russell County with his parents at an early age and attended Four Corners School. On Sept. 22, 1932, he was united in marriage to Irene Herbel at Gt. Bend, KS. To this union two children were born, one survives him.

Following their marriage, he and his wife settled on a farm northeast of Russell until 1935. They then went to Marion County for seven years and returned to Russell where he worked for the Russell County Noxious Weed Dept. until his retirement in 1972.

To treasure and cherish his memory are his wife, Irene, of the home; one son, Denny, Tulsa, OK; seven sisters: Anna Kaiser, Martha Funk, Leona Keys, Alice Canning, all of Russell, KS; Hulda Herbel, Wilson, KS; Linda Keller, Downs, KS; Lavera McCarty, Los Angeles, CA; five grandsons: Curtis Lee Dick, Kevin Lane Dick, Landon Kyle Dick, Chance Edward Dick, and Jarrett David Dick.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, Doloras Irene in 1935; one brother, Reinhardt; and two sisters, Irene Bronson and Marie Herbel.

A memorial has been established in his name to the Cancer Fund.
