Elizabeth Lantman Lyman, 101, longtime resident and community leader of Hinesburg died Sunday, Oct. 14, 2007, at the Converse Home in Burlington following a brief illness. She was born in North Ferrisburgh, one of 16 children of William and Elizabeth (Stebbins) LaForce. Elizabeth was active in community and civic affairs. She was elected Town Representative to the State Legislature in 1945, and was also an active member of the Hinesburg school board, serving as clerk for 10 years. She was a dedicated member of The United Church of Hinesburg where she served in many capacities. She is survived by her devoted family, two sons and their spouses, Douglas and Betty Lantman of Hinesburg, Richard and Joyce Lantman of Poultney; eight granddaughters, Lyn Gaffney, Jill McCann, Kimberly Parker, Vanda Ripley, Beth Sasala, Kay Loudon, Cheryl Reynolds, Susan Corliss; her grandson, Richard Lantman; several greatgrandchildren; her sister, Elsie Rice; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband of 39 years, Lynn W. Lantman in 1964; her second husband, Leland Lyman in 1990; her son, Dr. John Lantman in 2002; and five brothers and nine sisters. A memorial service will be celebrated in the United Church of Hinesburg on Wednesday, Oct. 17, at 1 p.m. A private family burial will take place in Hinesburg Village Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the United Church of Hinesburg, Route 116, P.O. Box 39, Hinesburg, VT 05461. Arrangements are in care of Gifford Funeral Service, 22 Depot St., Richmond.
