NINA La FORCE TRUAX DASEY - Hinesburg. Born January 24, 1911, in N. Ferrisburgh, VT, the 9th of 16 children born to Elizabeth (Stebbins) and Francis William LaForce, Nina (LaForce) Truax Dasey passed away at home on Wednesday, June 17, 1998 after a period of declining health. Memorable moments and events of her life as related to her grandchildren include growing up on the Perry farms in Hinesburg; being chased by ugly bulls; playing on the Hinesburg High School girls' basketball team dominated by the La Force sisters; serving as a telephone operator in Hinesburg at age 16; The Flood of 1927 and crossing the Richmond bridge moments before it was washed away by the flood waters; marrying Albert Peter Truax in Williamstown, Orange Co., Vermont, March 2, 1930; working at the Brattleboro Retreat ; giving birth to her only child at home by oil light; helping Dr. Wainer with home births; spending summers at the cottage on Lake Iroquois; painting; the Truax Nursing Home; marrying Roland Dasey in Richmond, VT, October 25, 1976; enjoying Florida and shuffleboard for many winters. Through the years Nina was active in many civic organizations and was a member for over 50 years of the LaPlotte Chapter No. 64, O.E.S. in Hinesburg. Predeceased by her husband Albert Truax in 1975 and Roland Dasey in 1989, Nina is survived by her son Paul W. Truax and his wife Colleen of Hinesburg, and their children: Wendalyn Truax of Burlington; Maureen, her husband Kenneth Holland and their children Margot and Yvette of Memphis, TN; Brent Truax of Waitsfield; Sally, her husband Bill Krumrie and their son Alex of Williston; and, Stephany and her husband Steve Pippin of Chula Vista, CA. She is also survived by her sisters Hazel La Force of Leesburg, FL; Elizabeth Lyman of Richmond, VT; Elsie Rice of Lebanon, NH; and, a brother, Robert La Force of Beaver Falls, PA. Visiting hours are Sunday evening 7-9 in the Osborne Hall of the Hinesburg United Church. Services will be held at 10 A M Monday at the Hinesburg United Church with interment following at the family lot in the Hinesburg Village Cemetery. Gifford Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
