He was born March 20, 1914 in Patrick County to the late Percy Lee and Mary Etta Belton Bowman. He was preceded in death by two sons, Woodrow Bowman and James Bowman.
He was a retired orchardist and was a member of Doe Run Baptist Church.
Surviving are one son, Louis Bowman of Mount Airy; two sisters, Ida Hall of Stuart and Vergie Harrell of King, N.C.; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
The funeral was conducted Sunday at Moody Funeral Home chapel in Mount Airy by the Rev. Homer Bowman. Burial was in Oakdale Cemetery.
